Mary Lee Maddox, 90

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Mary Lee Maddox, age 90, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Louisville. She was born May 30, 1927 in Fairfield to the late David Lee and Amelia Jenny King Hickman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairfield 2nd Baptist Church. Mary Lee was a wonderful mother and granny who loved gardening and was a great cook.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Owen Maddox, 3 sons, Rodney, Randy, and Owen Lee Maddox, and 4 grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Julia Maxwell and Anita Joyce Scott, both of Louisville, 2 sons, John Caleb “Butch” (Darcy) Maddox of Louisville, Gary Wayne (Margaret) Maddox of Bardstown, her sister, Roslyn (James) Robinson of Lexington, 31 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee Maddox will be Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Fairfield 2nd Baptist Church. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Additional visitation will be Saturday after 11:00am at the church followed by a home going service at 1:00 pm

Nora Lynn Wright, 60

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Nora Lynn Wright, age 60, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. She was born November 1, 1956 in Glasgow to the late Clyde Walton and Nellie Jean Chaney Harper. Lynn was a former office manager for Family Medical Center and receptionist for Dr. Mark Abramovich, and was a United States Army Veteran. 

 She is survived by her husband, Roddy Wright, 3 sons, Marc Bryant of Columbus, IN., Rod Parker (LeeAnn) Wright of Shelbyville, Adam Dale Wright of Bardstown, her daughter, Katie Lynn (Jonathan) Mattingly of Bardstown, her niece, Stacey (Frankie) Nalley of Louisville, her sister, Laura Jean Brady of Jeffersonville, 3 brothers, Larry (Pat) Harper of Illinois, Jerry Harper and Gary Harper, both of Jeffersonville, IN., and 6 grandchildren, Landon Carter Wright, Ethan Mattingly, Emily Lamm, Abigail Nalley, Olivia Nalley and Bryce Nalley.

Lucille Cundiff, 97 

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Lucille Cundiff, age 97, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 in University of Louisville Hospital. She was born September 3, 1919 in Anderson County to the late Tyler and Jessie Jeanette Brothers. Lucille was a homemaker, a member of Chaplin Christian Church, and loved fishing, dancing and raising flowers in her garden.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Yates, 2 sons, Edgar and Leon Yates, 1 great grandchild, Mark Freibert, and 1 great-great grandchild, Jordan Yates.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Milburn, her son, J.L. (Marilyn) Yates, both of Bloomfield, 1 sister, Plumie Hoskins of Lawrenceburg, 1 brother, Namon Brothers of Versailles, 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

Lee Bryant Clark, 72

A Glendale resident, Mr. Lee Bryant Clark, age 72, formerly of Chaplin, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 28, 1944 in Nelson County to the late Letcher and Ada Neal Clark. Lee was a 1962 graduate of Willisburg High School and attended Western Kentucky University and St. Catharine College. He was a farmer, carpenter, and owner of Lee Clark Construction Company. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Neal and Douglas Clark.

He is survived by his companion, Brenda Hardin Clark, 2 sisters, Margaret (Darryl) Cheser of Bardstown, Becky (Tommy) Brothers of Bloomfield, 1 brother, William Clark of Bardstown, his niece, Natalie Cheser, 2 nephews, Samuel and Lucas Brothers, his step-daughter, Grace Ann Clark of Bedford, KY., and his grandson, Tristan Lee Clark.

Cremation was chosen by the family. A memorial visitation for Mr. Lee Bryant Clark will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, who is in charge of arrangements. 


 

Bonnie Sue Taylor, 66

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Bonnie Sue Taylor, age 66, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was born March 25, 1951 in Marion County to the late Adrian and Mary Elsie Hamilton Carrico. Bonnie was a former employee of General Electric and American Greetings and was of the Catholic faith. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 7 sisters and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her husband, William “Sonny” Taylor, her daughter, Marsha Taylor of Bardstown, her sister, Julie (Tommy) Noel of Springfield, 2 brothers, Donnie (Darlene) Carrico of Springfield, Doug (Ann) Carrico of Bardstown, and 2 grandchildren, Austin and Hunter Geoghegan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Sue Taylor will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Fr. Kevin McGrath will officiate. Vickie Lynn Goodlett, 63

A Taylorsville resident Mrs. Vickie Lynn Goodlett, age 63, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1953 in Louisville to J.W. and Grace Holt Byrd. She was a homemaker and a member of the Open Door Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Holt Byrd, a sister, Karen Byrd, and a brother, David Ray Byrd.

She is survived by her husband, Evan Raphel Goodlett Sr., her daughter, Tamitha Lynn Goodlett of Chaplin, 3 sons, Evan Raphel Goodlett Jr., Jeremy David Goodlett, Aaron Wesley Goodlett, all of Taylorsville, a son they raised, Brian Luttrell, her father, J.W. Byrd of Willisburg, 4 sisters, Cathy Byrd of Taylorsville, Connie Motley of Owensboro, Pam Robinett of Leitchfield, Sandra Luttrell of Louisville, 2 brothers, Eddie Byrd of Taylorsville, Jerry Lutrell of Louisville, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vickie Lynn Goodlett will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Open Door Christian Center. Rev. Mavis Bennett will officiate. Ernest "Ernie" Lee Taylor, 71

A Bardstown resident, Mr. Ernest "Ernie" Lee Taylor, 71, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1945 in Taylorsville to the late Ernest Benjamin and Anna Mae Taylor. Ernie was retired from General Electric and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Anna Marie Lunsford of Greenville, S.C.,  Frances Sanford, Teresa Taylor both of Louisville, sons, James Taylor of Indiana, Bobby Mobley of Louisville, Dominique Taylor of Bardstown, 3 sisters, Jackie Curtsinger, Bobbie Humphrey both of Bardstown, Theresa Taylor of Louisville. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Alice Mae Chesser, 86

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Alice Mae Chesser, age 86, born on November 21, 1930 in Nelson County, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 9, 2017 at Bardstown Health and Rehab, after a long illness.

She was a long time member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church where she served in vacation bible school, van ministry and the telephone prayer chain once she became homebound. She was retired from Nelson County Schools where she worked at Eli Brown Elementary in the school cafeteria. She was blessed to be surrounded and supported by many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Herman Chesser, her parents, Delbert and Viola Sparrow Coulter, two brothers, J.B. and R.C. Coulter, and one niece, Sharon Parkerson. She is survived by her sister in law, Lavon Coulter, her nephew, Gary and Sandy Coulter, two great nephews, Lance Coulter and Wesley Parkerson, all of Bardstown, and two special cousins, Irene Hupp of Chaplin and Charles Nally of Louisville.

Shirley Warner, 78

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Shirley Warner, age 78, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg. She was the former Shirley Morrow, born October 27, 1938 in Bardstown to the late Wallace and Edna Lee Nutgrass Morrow. She was a retired employee of Snider Drugs in Bloomfield for 42 years, a C.N.A. at Windsor Gardens, a private duty caregiver for two and a half years, a hospice volunteer, and a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Warner and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie (Roger) Rogers of Lawrenceburg, her son, Earl Warner of Sandy Hook, KY., and 2 grandchildren, Erin Rogers and Allie Rogers.

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Ruthie Mae Case, age 75, passed away Wednesday, May 03, 2017 at the residence of her son. She was born April 21, 1942 in Bloomfield to the late Sam and Mattie Baker Case. She was a retired employee of General Electric and a member of the Bloomfield Church of God.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Christine Thompson and Pauline Hardin, and 3 brothers, Samuel, Theodore, and Rome Case.

She is survived by her sons, James Kevin (Rita) Humes of Willisburg, William Jake Humes of Pottstown, PA., her sister, Judy (Paul) Jantzen of Bloomfield, 5 brothers, Roy Lee Case, Paul (Kathy) Case, Danny Dale Case, Edgar (Sue) Case, and Orville Case, all of Bloomfield, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Delia "Dollie" Gabriela Torres, 67

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Delia "Dollie" Gabriela Torres, age 67, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was born October 17, 1949 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Ismael and Carmen Tanon Campoamor. Dollie was a homemaker and a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Louie Torres, her daughter, Jackie (Troy) Logsdon of Springfield, her son, Richie (Kristin) Torres of Bloomfield, 2 brothers, Ismael (Mercy) Campoamor, and Michael (Jamie) Campoamor, both of Florida, 7 grandchildren, Jacob Torres, Carmen, Jolie, James, and Bailey Logsdon, Jonathan Bradshaw, Kailen Moore, and 2 great grandchildren, Arianna and Spencer.

Carolyn Sue Marksbury, 75

A Mt. Washington resident, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Marksbury, age 75, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in Baptist Health in Louisville. She was the former Carolyn Hagan, born January 24, 1942 in Fairfield to the late James and Ruby Gritton Hagan. She was a retired employee of General Electric and a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Louisville.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Donnie Marksbury.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Martha (Richard) McLin of Louisville, Penny Marksbury of Mt. Washington, 3 sons; Jim Marksbury, Tim (Joanne) Marksbury, both of Louisville, Paul Marksbury of Clarkson, Ky., a sister; Judy (Bobby) Lutz of Fairfield, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Ida Cerilla "Granny" Goff, 96

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Ida Cerilla “Granny” Goff, age 96, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born December 26, 1920 in Anderson County to the late Harry Mason and Lillie Mae Beasley Waldridge. She was a farmer and homemaker who enjoyed to gardening, cooking and entertaining, and loved her family. She was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 52 years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Coy Goff, 3 sisters; Tennie Hagan, Ellen Snider, and Nettie Fay Waldridge, 4 brothers; Buck, Perry, Claiborne, and Virgil Waldridge, and a granddaughter; Rhonda Goff Martin.

She is survived by her daughter; Vickie (Tommy) Byrnes of Bloomfield, 2 sons; Ronnie (Sherrill) Goff of Edmonton, and Bennie (Terri) Goff of Bloomfield, her special caregiver; Wendy Williams, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Ruby Hood Pennington, 73

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Ruby Hood Pennington, age 73, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born May 2, 1943 in Jefferson County to the late Ruel and Daisy Thompson Hood. She was a homemaker, former home health caregiver, and a member of the Bloomfield Church of God of Prophecy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; David Lee Pennington, 2 sisters; Mae Coslow and Bessie Woodall, and a granddaughter; Heather Brooke Pennington.

She is survived by her sons; Allen (Paula) Pennington of Willisburg, Tim (Pamela) Pennington of Bloomfield, 3 sisters; Beulah Ross of Willisburg, Robbie Pennington of Bloomfield, Agnes (Jim) Robinson of Louisville, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

John Andrew "Jack" Briggs, 86

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. John Andrew "Jack" Briggs, age 86, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 in Bardstown Health & Rehab Center. He was born September 24, 1930 in Bloomfield to the late Andrew and Anna Wood Dodson Briggs Jr. He was a farmer, a former employee of the Nelson County Cooperative Tobacco Warehouse, a member of the Bloomfield Big Spring Presbyterian-Trinity Baptist Church, and loved to play bridge.

He is survived by his caregivers; Herbert Ray Chesser and Shirley Heath, both of Bloomfield.

A Lebanon resident, Bro. James William Humes, age 78, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born December 8, 1938 in Fairfield to the late Pete and Nellie Murphy Humes. He was a retired employee of General Electric and the current Pastor of the Lebanon Church of God.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; Pamela Humes and a son; Edward Humes.

He is survived by his wife; Wanda Spann Humes, 2 daughters; Treasia (David) Robertson of Louisville, Becky (Billy) Johnson of Shepherdsville, 3 sons; William Jake Humes of Pennsylvania, James Kevin (Rita) Humes of Willisburg, James (Alice) Humes of Campbellsville, step-son; Tom (Bonnie) Goldsmith of Shepherdsville, 1 sister; Alice (Larry) Wilder of Fairfield, 2 brothers; Raymond Humes of Springfield, Jerry Humes of Fairfield, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Helen Rose Milburn, 85

A Mt. Washington resident, Mrs. Helen Rose Milburn, age 85, formerly of Chaplin, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. She was born June 6, 1931 in Bloomfield to the late Willie Mark and Amanda Taylor Hawthorne. She was a retired employee of General Electric, a member of Cove Baptist Church in Fairdale, and faithfully read her Bible daily.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband; Judea Jackson, her 2nd husband; Offus Milburn, 4 sisters; Sadie Parsons, Ada Miller, Katie Wolf, and Willie Taylor, and 5 brothers; Orville, Joe, Raymond, Eugene, and Clellen Hawthorne.

She is survived by her daughter; Debra (Bobby) Spears of Mt. Washington, 2 sisters; Barbara Shirley and Mary Jane Sorrell, both of Mt. Washington, 4 granddaughters; Dena (Dewey) Hutchens, DeLenna (Kevin) Wallitsch, both of Fern Creek, Darla (Billy) Smith of Mt. Washington, and Devona (Michael) O’Brien of Jeffersonville, IN., and 15 great grandchildren.

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. Ronald Merritt “Ronnie” Holt, age 50, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1967 in Bardstown to the late Robert A. and JoAnn Hood Holt. He was preceded in death by a brother; Larry Holt. He is survived by his wife; Mildred “Millie” Dobson Holt, a brother; Gary (Sheila) Holt of Acworth, GA., as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cale Ray White, 78

A Vine Grove resident, Mr. Cale Ray White, age 78, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 in Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born September 10, 1938 in Spencer County to the late Victor and Stella Yates White. He was a retired 1st Sergeant of the United States Army, a Vietnam Veteran, a former teacher for 20 years at North Hardin High School where he was active in the ROTC program, and was a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Clara Cardenas, and a brother; James Winfred White.

He is survived by his wife; Christine Rabsky White, 1 daughter; Crystal Chatterton of Germany,  2 sons; Victor Scott (Melissa) White of Virginia, Michael (Brandi) White of Scottsville,  and 1 brother; Charles (Mary Ann) White of Bloomfield.

Trevor Blair Holt, age 25, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Dayton, Ohio, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born April 16, 1991 in Kettering, OH to Alex Blair Holt and Jennifer Ellen Howard, and was a former employee of Rabbit River Transportation.

He is survived by his mother; Jennifer Schmidt (fiancé Marty Brausch) of Florence, KY., his father; Alex Holt of Newport, KY., 5 sisters; Bobbi Ann (David) Whittamore of Eminence, KY., Jennifer Lynn Holt of Latonia, KY., Karli Nicole Holt of Newport, KY., Courtney Taylor Brooke Holt of Latonia, KY., Whitney Daniels of Tipp City, OH., 2 brothers; Adam Schmidt and Bradley Schmidt, both of Cincinnati, OH., and his grandmothers; Dorothy Katherine Holt of Louisville, KY., Carolyn Ann Gooch of Somerset, KY., and Juanita Howard of Chicago, IL.

Loretta Katherine Terrell, 93

A Louisville resident, Mrs. Loretta Katherine Terrell, formerly of Wakefield, age 93, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at her residence. She was born November 10, 1923 in Paris, Arkansas to the late John and Elizabeth Epps Schmalz. She was a retired employee of Fischer’s Packing Co. and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she served on the Bereavement Committee. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Joe Terrell.

She is survived by her son; Robert Joseph “Bobby” (Cindy) Terrell of Louisville, 2 sisters; Leona Maxon of Taolay, KS., and Betty Gravenstien, 3 brothers; Robert Schmalz, Larry Schmalz, and James Schmalz, all of Kansas City, KS., 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Loretta Katherine Terrell will be celebrated Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 9:30 am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Fr. Wilfredo Hernandez will celebrate. Lois Mae Howell, 89

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Lois Mae Howell, age 89, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was born July 13, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Elmer and Ida Hussong Lowrey. She was a former secretary for Belle Fountaine Methodist Church and Indian Lake High School in Ohio. She was a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church and the Eastern Star in Beaver Creek, Ohio.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Clifford Duane Howell.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Kimberlie (Bill) Judd of Bloomfield, Lynn Howell of Kettering, OH., 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen by the family. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Willow Grove Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio at a later date. The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements. 


 

Margery Neal Driskell, 90

A Louisville resident, Mrs. Margery Neal Driskell, age 90, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born July 8, 1926 in Nelson County to the late Horace and Elizabeth Stevens Neal. She was an employee of Enro Shirt Company for 32 years, and a member of the Cooper Memorial United Methodist Church. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Forrest K. Driskell, hersister; Aileen McClain, and a brother; Humphrey “Buck” Neal, Sr.

She is survived by her brother; Horace Neal, Jr. of Bloomfield, 1 niece and 4 nephews.

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Mary Ann Coulter, age 72, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 in Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born October 25, 1944 in Bardstown to the late William and Edna Asberry Norris. She was a former employee of West Clock and A.F.L. in Shelbyville, and loved watching hummingbirds and growing flowers.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Catherine Norris, and 3 brothers; David Barnhouse, Bobby Norris, and Kenneth Charles Barnhouse.

She is survived by her husband; Edward “Ed” Coulter, 2 daughters; Mary (Roger) Hornback of New Haven, Rhonda Coulter of Bloomfield, 2 sisters; Marie Fritz of Louisville, Pat Richardson of Mt. Washington, a brother; Phillip (Patti) Barnhouse of Mt. Washington, and 1 granddaughter; Brandy Ferguson of Elizabethtown.

Wayne Brown, 69

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. Wayne Brown, age 69, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1947 in Louisville to the late John Wesley and Betty Miller Brown, Jr. He was a shuttle driver for Courtesy Buick in Louisville.

He is survived by his loving partner; Joanna Chapman Hood, and two half brothers; Roy Allen Stinson and James Bernard Stinson, both of Louisville.

David Turner Hilton, 88

A Bardstown resident, Mr. David Turner Hilton, age 88, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 in Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born May 20, 1928 in Woodford County to the late John T. and Sarelda Lancaster Hilton. He was a farmer, former manager for the Nelson County Co-Op Tobacco Warehouse, and a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; Ryan Lewis, a sister; Dorothy Langford, and a brother; Howard Hilton.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Betty Mattingly Hilton, 2 daughters; Gena Lynn (Greg) Lewis of Louisville, Andrea Kay (Jim) Hammond of Lewisville, TX., 2 step-sons; Mark (Carol) Walker, Terry Walker, both of Bardstown, a sister; Della Moore of Bowling Green, and 6 grandchildren.

A Chaplin resident, Mrs. Edna Bunch, age 97, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Baptist Health in Louisville. She was born July 16, 1919 in Nelson County to the late W.J. and Fannie Sweazy Armstrong. She was a former employee of the Bardstown Sewing Factory and the former Peoples State Bank in Chaplin. She was a homemaker and a member of Green’s Chapel Methodist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bunch.

She is survived by her two sons; Freddie (Joyce) Bunch of Bloomfield, Larry (Paula) Bunch of Bradenton, FL., two grandchildren; Vonda Donoho of Bloomfield, Jenny (Chris) Bunch of Tampa, FL., 2 great grandchildren; Lindsey (Michael) Tinnell of Cox’s Creek, Kelsey Shryock of Elizabethtown, and 1 great-great grandchild; Regan Tinnell.

Margie Francis Holt, 100

Margie Francis Holt passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2016.  She was born June 25, 1916 and lived her entire life in Nelson County.  A celebration of her 100th birthday was held in June of this year.  Margie was well known in the Chaplin community and was honored by the Nelson County School Board upon her retirement for her 30 years of service in the Chaplin School Cafeteria.  She was a lifelong member of the Chaplin Christian Church.

Margie was the eldest daughter of Roy and Clara Taylor Hahn.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Preston Holt;  a sister, Hallie Thomas;  a brother, Don Hahn;  and a son-in-law, Bobby Crume.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Crume of Chaplin and Doris (I.B.) Jenkins of Louisville; three granddaughters, Carla (Baxter) Schilling of Louisville, Julie (Dan) Griggs of Lexington and Cynthia (Bret) Louderback of Milford, OH.;  five great grandsons:  William Preston Schilling, John Baxter “Jeb” Schilling, David Jackson Louderback, Brennan Hayes Louderback and Daniel Glenn Griggs, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.  She greeted each visitor to her home with a smile and open arms, and of course, an invitation to join her for a meal.  Her good natured disposition and outlook on life was an inspiration to all who loved her. 

The family would like to recognize the caregivers in the Chaplin community who assisted Margie in her home over the years.  The many calls, visits, cards and notes she received were greatly appreciated and made her life rich with friendship and love.

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. Danny Dale Richardson, age 70, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 in Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. He was born April 6, 1946 to the late Fred "Duckeye" and Mary Cammack Richardson. He attended Eastern Gate Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Vernon Richardson.

He is survived by his sister, Sarah Jane Jewell of Bloomfield, his brother, Freddie (Sally) Richardson of Louisville, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tonni Coulter, 65

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Tonni Coulter, age 65, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her residence. She was born December 7, 1950 in Bloomfield. She was a homemaker and housekeeper, and was a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church. Tonni was a natural born caretaker, very creative, and lived a life dedicated to her husband, sons, and grandson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Goodlett Beam, and a sister, Charity Gay Beam.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Thomas Coulter, 2 sons, Brent (Danielle) Coulter of Bloomfield, Wes (Justin Dolci) Coulter of Louisville, her father, Samuel J. Beam, her sister, Gwen (Teddy) James both of New Braunfell, TX., 2 brothers, David (Vicki) Dowell of Bristol, TN., and Sammy Beam of Hollywood, CA., her special grandson, Dillon Coulter, and 2 step-grandchildren.

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Gertrude Franklin "Gertie" Roberts, age 84, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. She was born May 22, 1932 in Spencer County to the late Shelby and Lillie Lauer Daily. She was a former employee of the old Roberts Restaurant, a former food service employee for the Nelson County Board of Education, a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Washington County, and loved the outdoors, flowers, and gardening.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Rats" Roberts, as well as 9 brothers and sisters.She is survived by 2 daughters, Vickie Roberts of Bardstown, Sandy Collins of Danville, her son, Alan Wood “Boo” (Elaine) Roberts of Bloomfield, a brother, Shelby (Doris) Daily of Jeffersontown, 4 grandchildren, Kristy (Dee) Meeks of Bloomfield, Megan (Jason) Garrison of California, Phillip (Erin) Roberts of North Carolina, Jacob Henderson of Louisville, 3 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.

Willard Michael Hill, 61

A Chaplin resident, Mr. Willard Michael Hill, age 61, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Eugene and Effie R. Carrico Hill, born October 25, 1955 in Marion County. Mike loved to fish and hunt, his hobby was making fishing lures, he loved his many friends, and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Roxie Hill, and a brother, Harry Hill.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Brenda (Russell) Coulter, and Patricia (Melvin) Cull, both of Chaplin, a brother, Billy Hill of Bardstown, a sister in law, Lois Hill of Chaplin, as well as several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Marie Beam, 88

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Marie Beam, age 88, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Effie Colvin Goodlett, born March 18, 1928 in Anderson County. She was a former beautician and a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Charity Gay Beam, her sister, Blanche Wright, and a brother, Billy Goodlett.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel J. Beam, 2 daughters, Tonni (Harold T.) Coulter of Bloomfield, and Gwen (Teddy) James of New Braunfell, TX., 2 sons, David (Vicki) Dowell of Bristol, TN., and Sammy Beam of Hollywood, CA., a brother, Dr. Tom Ed (Carolyne) Goodlett of Shelbyville, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A Chaplin resident, Mrs. Mary Lee Coulter, age 75, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her residence. She was born June 30, 1941 in Nelson County to the late Dave and Mary Cole Milburn. She was a retired employee of Texas Instruments with 20 years of service, and was a member of Van Buren Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Coulter, 4 sisters, Katherine Tingle, Gladys Peach, Mabel Baine, Marthaleen Milburn, and a brother, Wendell Milburn.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly (Mike) Bolin of Bloomfield, and Brenda Coulter of Chaplin, 2 sons, Calvin Coulter, and Craig (Michele) Coulter, both of Chaplin, her sister, Pauline Humes of Chaplin, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Johnson, Caleb (Caroline) Coulter, Adam Riley, and Mary Elizabeth Coulter, and 1 great grandchild, Landon Johnson.

Doris Lorraine Grubbs, 85
A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Doris Lorraine Grubbs, age 85, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was born March 25, 1931 in Anderson County to the late Hollis and Viola Peyton Bryant. She was a former employee of Texas Instruments and a member of Wakefield Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Grubbs.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Lorraine (Gene) Beavers of Bloomfield, Kathy Curtsinger of Fairfield, and Nancy Grubbs Bailey of Lawrenceburg, 2 sons, Terry (Linda) Grubbs of Frankfort, and Mike (Donna) Grubbs of Nicholasville, 3 sisters, Pat (Scott) Conrad, Martha (Bob) Reed, and Jayne Pope, all of Jeffersonville, IN., 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.

Linda Lee Broaddus, 72

A Bloomfield resident, Mrs. Linda Lee Broaddus, age 72, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Windsor Gardens in Bardstown. She was born October 22, 
1943 in Bloomfield to Paul W. Leathers and Viola Moore Leathers. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a master’s degree in library science, was a retired teacher for the Nelson County Board of Education, a member of the Nelson County Retired Teachers Association, a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and a member of the Community Bible Study at Parkway Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marvena Livers, and her father, Paul W. Leathers.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Broaddus, 2 daughters, Mary Benita Semar of Leitchfield, and Debbie Embry of Radcliff, 3 sons, Steve Broaddus, Keith Broaddus, both of Vine Grove, and Charles Broaddus of Bloomfield, her mother, Viola Leathers of Bardstown, 2 sisters, Joan (Walt) Norton of Bardstown, and Donna (Preston) Samuels of Mt. Washington, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A Bardstown resident, Mrs. Betty Frances Mattingly, age 74, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at her residence. She was born January 11, 1942 in Nelson County to the late Robert Merritt and Gladys Conder Holt. She was a homemaker and a member of The 1st Cedar Creek Baptist Church. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mattingly, 3 sisters, Alice Scott, Sharon Thompson, Judy Martin, and 2 brothers, Robert A. Holt and Arthur Holt.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Penny Jolicoeur of Bardstown, Cheryl (Adam) Smith of Canton, GA., her son, David Mattingly of Bardstown, a sister, Eva (Jack) Breeding of Bardstown, a brother Donnie (Kathy) Holt of Bardstown, and 6 grandchildren, Matthew Jolicoeur, Erin Masterson, Ellie Mattingly, Baylen Smith, Evan Mattingly, and Dakota Smith.

Marion Davis Creech, 74

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. Marion Davis Creech, age 78, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 in Nicholasville. He was born on July 2, 1938 in Nelson County to the late Fred and Martha Belle Marion Creech. He retired after 41 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as a Sr. Inspector.  He served with the Army National Guard, was an Elder in the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, a former coordinator of Nelson County 4-H Shooting Sports for 27 years and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Grace Creech and a niece Michelle Carney.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Carney Creech, his son, Marion Davis (Allison) Creech II, of Louisville, 2 grandsons, Marion Davis "Trey" Creech III and Elijah Day Creech. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Fredericka (Phil) Lockett of Fairfield, 3 nephews and 1 niece also survive.

A Lawrenceburg resident, Mrs. Margaret Clara Coulter, age 82, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Bradford Square in Frankfort. She was born October 27, 1933 in Anderson County to the late Levy and Gladys Robinson Waldridge. She was a retired employee of Louisville Textile & Union Underwear, a homemaker, and a member of Van Buren Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Waldridge, and a grandson, Jacob Walker.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Walker of Lawrenceburg, Rita Isham of Frankfort, her son, David (Carol) Coulter of Louisville, and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Clara Coulter will be Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Bro. Winfred Hagerman will officiate. Interment will be in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-8:00 pm. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
