Earnon Waldridge, 81

A Taylorsville resident Mr. Earnon Waldridge age 81 passed away on February 6, 2016 at Baptist Health in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born the son of the late William Archie and Edna Glavis Robinson Waldridge in Anderson County, Ky. Mr. Waldridge was retired from Southern Pipeline where he worked as a pipeline engineer.  He was a member of the Franklin Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky and also attended the Van Buren Baptist Church and the Greens Chapel Church.  He enjoyed the outdoors and held a passion for his family , friends, and shared a tremendous sense of humor with all around him.  He especially enjoyed his tractor and garden tractor and cared for them just like an automobile.

Mr. Waldridge was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Louise McGaughey, and twin brother Vernon,and brothers  Jr. and J.T. Waldridge and granddaughter Stephanie Ann Waldridge. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joyce McKinney Waldridge of Taylorsville, daughter Sharon Thomas(Keith) of Taylorsville, two sons, Gary Waldridge (Wendy) of Lawrenceburg, and Darrell Waldridge (Pam) also of Lawrenceburg.   Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Geraldine Nation Waldridge, 74

A Taylorsville resident Mrs. Geraldine Nation Waldridge age 74 passed away peacefully at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville,Ky.  She was born the daughter of the late Floyd and Gleta Shelburne Nation in Shelbyville, Ky.

Mrs. Waldridge was a former employee of Christopher East Healthcare of Louisville,Ky.  She was a loving person and had a great compassion for her dog and cat.  She was a former resident of Christian Care Community in Taylorsville. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Leon Waldridge, her sisters Carol Bowles, and Phyllis Grasmick

Mrs. Waldridge is survived by her daughter Cathy Richardson (Darrell) of Taylorsville, Ky ., her sister Gail Hancock (Ronnie) of Fairdale, Ky, and two brothers Gilbert Nation(Patty) of Shepherdsville, Ky., and Gene Nation (Marilyn) of Taylorsville and one grandson Jonathan Crouch(Sabrina) of Taylorsville.

Marthy Jean Milburn, 60

A Taylorsville native Mrs. Marthy Jean Milburn age 60 passed away at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, Ky on January 10, 2016. Mrs. Milburn was born the daughter of the late William Ray and Dorothy Lee Nation Seabolt Carson in Shelbyville,Ky.  She was the owner and Operator of the Licensed Milburn Family Care Home of Taylorsville for the past 22 years. She was a former member of the  Open Door Christian Center of  Bloomfield, Ky. and was a current member of the The Bethesda Church of God of Shelbyville.  She loved her church and was truly a very loving and caring individual.

Mrs. Milburn is survived by her husband Clannon(C.W.) Milburn of Taylorsville, her daughter Tonia Elmore and her companion Jimmy Hiske of Taylorsvillle, one Grandson Dalton Elmore of Taylorsville, Step-daughters Laurinda Napier (Beauford) of Gauge ,Ky, Teresa Holland of Shelbyville, Ky., Step-sons Jay Milburn (Sally) of Defoe, Ky, Bradley Milburn (Angie) of Bagdad,Ky., Eight Step-grandchildren, and 11 Step-great-grandchildren.

One twin sister Mrs. Dorothy Scholten (David) of Taylorsville,Ky Three brothers James Ray Seabolt of Louisville,Ky., Billy “Zeak” Seabolt (Janet Carol) of Louisville,Ky., and Victor Garrard Seabolt of Taylorsville,Ky.

A Louisville resident, Mr. Harry Arnold Goldstein, age 79, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He was the son of the late Philip and Marcella Weiland Goldstein, born May 31, 1936 in Louisville. He was a member of St. Michael Church of Louisville where he was also a member of the 3M Club, a United States Army Veteran, and was a member of the Kentucky Grocers Association, Inc. Mr. Goldstein began his career at the age of 9, delivering groceries on a pony during WWII, for his parents grocery store on Virginia Avenue in Louisville. He worked there until he went into the Army in 1959. He then came home and left the family business and managed a grocery store on Dixie Highway until he came to Taylorsville and bought the Little Giant Grocery Store in 1966. He also partnered with his brother Joe in 1974 and started the Key Market in Bardstown. He then built the new store, Foodland, in Taylorsville in 1986. He stayed there until the new Country Mart was built and opened in 2007, where he continued to work until his untimely death.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Goldstein.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Ingram Goldstein, a son, Matt (Angie) Goldstein of Louisville, step son, Kenneth Bruce Aubrey of Taylorsville, step daughter, Julie (Wayne) Lecompte of Mt. Washington, sisters, Joann Henry of Louisville, Eileen (Jim) Mitchell, and Dolores Snyder, both of Sellersburg, IN., his brother Joe (Rita) Goldstein of Bardstown, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Harry Arnold Goldstein will be celebrated Monday, January 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm from the Saint Michael Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Fr. Dick Sullivan and Fr. Kenny Kamber will officiate. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery at Taylorsville. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00-8:00 pm at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville. Glen Keith Curtsinger, 57

Mr. Glen Keith Curtsinger age 57 of Taylorsville passed away December 22, 2015 at Baptist Health in Louisville, Ky.  He was a true outdoorsman and loved wildlife.  An employee of the Kentucky Department of Highways, husband, father, and grandfather, son and brother who will be greatly missed by family , friends and co-workers.

Mr. Curtsinger was preceded in death by his father Leon Curtsinger.

He is survived by his mother Jean Curtsinger of Springfield, Ky., his wife Connie Nation Curtsinger of Taylorsville, daughters Crystal Burgin (Troy) of Taylorsville, Renee Burgin (Gary) of Cox’s Creek, Ky., Leann Perry (Rodney) of Willisburg, Ky.,  One son Jeremy Curtsinger (Erin) of Louisville,Ky., Three sisters  Elaine Lewis (Larry) of Willisburg, Ky. Peggy Humphrey (Scott) of Nelson County, and Patty Elliott (Dave) of Florence, Ky.  One brother Charles Curtsinger (Kathy)  of Springfield, Ky.   Eight grandchildren and one special God-Daughter  Kaylee Carney.

Bettie Carol Peach Cook, 68

A Bardstown resident, Ms. Bettie Carol Peach Cook, age 68, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Colonial Health and Rehab in Bardstown. She was the daughter of the late James and Beulah Pearl Montgomery Peach, born October 20, 1947 in Anderson County. She was a retired employee of Florida Tile and attended Open Door Christian Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Riley and Emmett Cox.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Carolyn Cox, Jennifer (James) Seaton of Taylorsville, and Amy (Roger) Thomas of Lexington, a son, Danny (Dawn) Cox of Taylorsville, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ms. Bettie Carol Peach Cook will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Sister Mavis Bennett will officiate. Michael Anthony Willis Ponzi, 35

Mr. Michael  Anthony  Willis Ponzi age 35 passed away October 22, 2015 whiile working in Farmington West Virginia.  He was employeed by Core Trans Transportation of Somerset, Kentucky as a truck driver  and was a member of the Wakefield  Christian Church  and also served as a volunteer firefighter for Spencer County for 10 years.

Mr. Ponzi  is survived by his father Louis Anthony Ponzi and his wife Ann of Louisville, Ky., his mother Cynthia Underwood and her husband Don of Gravel Switch, Ky.  One brother Louis Anthony Ponzi II  and his wife Veronica of Louisville,Ky., Three Step Sisters: Sara Poole and her husband Barry of Cairo, Ga.  Leann Thornhill Bleuel and her husband Charles of Louisville, Ky., Emily Thornhill of Richmond , Va., Two Step Brothers, Donnie Underwood and his wife Tammy of Crossfield, Tn., and Curtis Lee Thornhill of Louisville, Ky.

Mr. Thomas Jefferson Curtsinger age 74 of Taylorsville, Ky passed away  October 4, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville. Born the son of the late Herbert and Nellie Hardin Curtsinger in Spencer County ,Ky.   He was a former employee of Legatt and Platt Corporation of Simpsonville,Ky., and a member of the Green’s Chapel Methodist Church.  He was a talented musician that loved playing his guitar.

Mr. Curtsinger was preceded in death by his parents, his son Thomas Curtsinger Jr. and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by  his daughters  Betty Baskett of Taylorsville, Ky., and Stephanie McCoy(Chris) of Clarksville, In.  Three sons Jeff Curtsinger and his Fianc e’ Amanda of Mt. Washington, Ky., Troy Curtsinger and his fianc e’ Pam of Taylorsville,Ky., and Terry Curtsinger of Louisville,Ky.

One sister Hazel Hardin (Norman) of Taylorsville,Ky. and six Grandchildren also survive.  Mr. Curtsinger was also survived by his extended family, long time special friend Dorothy Shaw , Tammy Howell and Erica Smith of all of Mt. Eden ,Ky ., Larry Shaw (Eugena) of Shepherdsville,Ky.,Keith Shaw (Teresa) of Taylorsville, Ky., Jeannie Donovan (Dwayne) of Taylorsville,Ky., Anna Jewell(Poppy) of Taylorsville,Ky., and Karen Stivers (Lynn) of Shelbyville,Ky. and all of the Mobley Family of Mt. Bettie Jean Redmon, 68

A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Bettie Jean Redmon, age 68, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.

She was born October 31, 1946 to the late Gilbert Wesley and Edna Susan Sagersey Montgomery. She was a former employee of Northfield Manor Nursing Home in Louisville where she was a CMT, was a member of the Taylorsville Community Church and a former member of Wakefield Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Ames Morris, a granddaughter, Whitney Ames Waldridge, as well as several brothers and sisters

She is survived by her daughter, Greta Ames (fiancé Bradley Pollett) of Taylorsville, 5 grandchildren, Anthony Shane (Cayla) Waldridge, Sheldon Morris, Michelle (Thomas) Wimsatt, Samantha (David) Nation, and 3 great grandchildren, Gavin Waldridge, Shyann and Trey Wimsatt, all of Taylorsville, 1 brother, Marvin Montgomery of Bardstown, and a sister, Brenda Chesser of Florida.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie Jean Redmon will be Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Taylorsville Community Church. Bro. Chad Goodlett and Sister Mavis Bennett will officiate. Rita Faye Chesser Davis, 58

Mrs. Rita Faye Chesser Davis age 58 of Shelbyville, Ky passed away September 13, 2015 at Norton Hospital Downtown, Louisville,Ky. Rita was born in Shelbyville, Ky the daughter of Walter Chesser of Shelbyville  and the late Janice Stevens Chesser.  She was a graduate of Shelby County High School  class of 1975.  Mrs. Davis was a former employee of Whitney Young Job Corp. where she worked as a Secretary.  She attended the Lighthouse Christian Church in Louisville,Ky and was a former member of Elk Creek Baptist Church of Taylorsville.

Besides her mother she was preceded in death by her brother Barry Chesser. Rita is survived by her father Walter Chesser of Shelbyville, her daughters Sharron DeGail Davis of Fisherville, and Stephanie Laree Davis of Shelbyville.  One sister Connie Chesser and her companion John Ruble of Shelbyville. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Donald Lee Vires, 74

Mr. Donald Lee Vires age 74 passed away September 6, 2015 at Baptist Health in Louisville, Ky.  He was born in Spencer County, Ky the son of the Late Burnon and Ethyel Hardin Vires.  He was a member of the Taylorsville First Assembly of God Church and was a retired employee of General Electric after 17 years of service.

He is survived by his wife Terri Couch Vires of Taylorsville, his daughters Donna Diane Vires Bassett(Jeffrey) of Louisville, Ky., Leah Dawn Vires Lohden (Timothy) of Cecilia, Ky., one son Michael Dewayne Vires of Taylorsville, Ky., one sister Mary Joan Carter (Tommy) of Hodgenville, Ky., and One brother Joe Vires(Betty) of Taylorsville, Ky.  Five Grandchildren, Chae,David, John, Timothy,  and Amber.  Two Great-grandchildren Ryleigh and Kaidin.

Besides his parents he was preceded In death by his sister Geraldine Williams, half sisters Mable Moore and Betty Truax, and one half brother Junior Biven.

Visitation for Mr. Donald Lee Vires September 11, 2015 from 3-8 P.M. and September 12, 2015 from 8 A.M. til funeral time at 11:a.m. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home.  His brother Joe Vires officiated the service and interment was in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.

Devon Stanley Maddox, 20

Mr. Devon Stanley Maddox age 20 passed away September 6, 2015 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, KY.  He was born the son

Of Fred Stanley Maddox of Taylorsville and the late Angela Sanders Maddox.  Devon attended Taylorsville Community Church and enjoyed working on the farm and being outdoors.

Besides his father he is survived by his step-father Hubert "Red" Cornett of Taylorsville, Ky., his sisters Stephanie Maddox(Cody) and Journey Cornett  Both of Taylorsville.  One brother Jayden Cornett of Taylorsville.  Grandparents Howard Prewitt and Jean Milburn of Taylorsville, Sue Welsh and Terry Dotson of Taylorsville, and Kathy and Jose Velasquez of Taylorsville,Ky. 

The family chose cremation and a graveside service  is planned for a later date.  Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville was in charge of Arrangements.



 
Patricia Kay Martin, 71

Mrs. Patricia Kay Martin age 71 of Waddy, Ky passed away at Norton Hosparus Women’s Pavillion in Louisville, Ky on August 25, 2015.  She was born the daughter of the late Maurice and Irene Potter Huston in Monroe, MI.  Mrs. Martin enjoyed her family and had a great compassion for animals.  She was a former employee of the Budd Plant in Shelbyville, Ky and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Robert Martin, also her sisters Sandy Spencer, Lillian Vaughn, Nora Cousino, and other siblings in Michigan.

She is Survived by her husband of 50 Years Arnold Martin of Waddy, Ky. , her son David Turner, Jr. of Jenera, OH., and son Shannon Martin of  Waddy, Ky. two daughters Kathy Masterson (Tom) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Sharon Martin and her fiance’ Chuck Germany of Waddy, Ky. Also her sister Laury Helton(Arnold) of Sparta, OH.  Seven Grandchildren and  Five great-grandchildren also survive.

Helen J. (Buttrey) Ingram, 84

, passed from this life into Heaven August 16, 2015, where she was reunited with her husband of 66 years, Cecil Ingram, who had passed only 7 weeks before her. 
Helen was born in Tennessee the daughter of Early F. Buttrey and Maymie Brown Buttrey Hilbert, step-daughter of John Dennis Hilbert.  She was also preceded in death by brothers, Farris Evans Buttrey and James Dennis Hilbert and Sister, Barbara (Ivan) Taylor. After she retired from Hazelwood State Hospital in Louisville, she devoted her time and strength to her Jesus, her husband, and her family.

Helen was a resident of Spencer County and a highly regarded Sunday School teacher at First Assembly of God in Taylorsville for many years. She was also known for her poignant rendition of "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." She left behind two daughters:  Sharon (Vincent) Hoover of Shepherdsville and Marna (Darrell) Hornback of Taylorsville; a stepson Kem A. Ingram of Louisville; and her pride and joy, three grandchildren, Christopher Shewmaker of Irmo South Carolina, Marnessa Hornback of Ft. Wright Kentucky, and D. Shae (Annie) Hornback of Bristol Rhode Island, as well as many nieces, and nephews, and dear friends who will miss her.

Visitation will be at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home Thursday, August 20, 2015, 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday August 21, 2015, 9:00 a.m. until Funeral time.  Funeral will be at Taylorsville Community Church 1:00 p.m.  Friday.  Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 



 
Francis Diane Rogers Devine, 64

Mrs. Francis Diane Rogers Devine, age 64, passed Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Louisville.  She was born on April 21, 1951 in Spencer County to the late Roy Rogers Jr. and Mary Francis Redmon Croft. She was a hairdresser and a member of Lifeline Christian Crossing Church in Taylorsville.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her son Joseph (Eddie) Robey, brother, Bruce (Boggy) Rogers and a sister Johnetta (Dumpy) Beshazier.
She is survived by her children, Angie Lanham, Gary (Rhonda) Robey, and Devin (Aaron) Harrison all of Louisville, her sisters, Sarita Rogers of Leitchfield, Charlotte Holderman of Louisville, Cathy (Keith) Marshall of Clarksville, IN., Twana (Larry) Hale of Clarksville, IN., Mary Ann (Brad) Johnson of Taylorsville, her brothers, Arvin Rogers, and Darvin (Shelley) Rogers both of Louisville. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 1:00pm at New Hope Assembly of God Church in Taylorsville with Brother Joe Vires officiating.  Burial will be Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church Friday from 9:00am until 1:00pm service.  Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


 

Earl (Jack) Gilbert Jr., 77

Mr. Earl (Jack) Gilbert Jr. age 77 passed away July 31, 2015 at Kindred Healthcare of Louisville,Ky.  He was born the son of the lateEarl and Ida Ashby Gilbert Sr. in Spencer County.    He a former employee of A&M Oil Company of Taylorsville and member of the Mt. Zion Campbranch Baptist Church.

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Sue Mitchell and Cora Crow and Regina Bush.  Also a brother Henry Gilbert.  Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife Margaret Young Gilbert of Taylorsville, his daughter Patricia Louise Gilbert of Bardstown, his son Earl Matthew Gilbert (Tonya) of Louisville, Terrance Eugene Gilbert (Patricia) of Taylorsville and Eric Allen Gilbert (Holly) of Taylorsville.  One brother Clarence B. Gilbert (Nannie) of Taylorsville and his sister-in-law Marsha Gilbert of Louisville, 4 grand children and 1 great grandchild also survive.

Irene Roberts, 81

Mrs. Irene  Roberts age 81 passed away on August 2, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville.  Mrs. Roberts was born the daughter of the late Hugh Otis and Alpha Aileen Williams Shouse.  Mrs. Roberts was a loving teacher where she taught special needs children at Smyrna Elementery.   She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and had a love for animals.  A graduate of Taylorsville High School and attended Translyvania  University. She attended the Big Spring Assembly of God Church and Living Waters Church of Mt. Washington.

Besides her parents Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband B.F.(Bull) Roberts.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughter Kathleen Tucker (Doug) of Louisville, Ky.  Her son Bryan Roberts (Kathi) of Taylorsville, her sister Cornelia Winkler of Taylorsville, and brother Steve Shouse of Louisville , Ky.  Two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Anthony Thomas Louis Jr., 55

Mr. Anthony Thomas Louis Jr. age 55 passed away July 31, 2015 at his residence.  He was employed by Baughman Building Materials in Shelbyvllle, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife Kim Marie Louis of Taylorsville, Ky and  his two sons Anthony and Matthew Louis also of Taylorsville.  His mother Jacqueline Hrebik of Taylorsville.  One sister Deborah Stone(Thomas) of Louisville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his father Anthony Thomas Louis Sr.

Gary Goodlett, 66

A Bloomfield resident, Mr. Gary Goodlett, age 66, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 in St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville. He was born May 28, 1949 in Spencer County to the late Jessie Clyde and Ruby Mae Ingram Goodlett. He was a farmer and was a former employee of the Nelson County Board of Education where he taught for 17 years as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Nelson County High School. He was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Allen Goodlett.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Joyce Goodlett and Golda Kelien, both of Taylorsville, 2 nieces, Sandy Truax and Debbie Redmon, his best friend and cousin, Dewayne Goodlett, numerous other cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Goodlett will be Friday, July 24, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Chad Goodlett officiating. Maynard Rodney Alls, 78

Mr. Maynard Rodney Alls age 78 passed away July 11, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, KY.  He was born the son of the late Leonard Walters and Maude marie Dooley Alls in Richmond, Va.  He was a retired employee of Overnight Tranportaion in Louisville,Ky.  Mr. Alls was a  retired military veteran having proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and other military conflicts.  He was a member of VFW Post # 11426 and had a great passion for his church family at Lighthouse Baptist Church of Taylorsville where he attended.

Mr. Alls was preceded in death by his parents and several other family members.

He leaves to cherish his memory sons Stuart Lynn Owen (Angela) of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Christopher Chad Owen (Tina) of Mt. Washington, Ky. His sister Myrtie Thompson of Salem, Va. And brother Gregory Alls (Dale) of New Castle, Va.  Two grandchildren Kaitlyn B. Owen and Shelby L. Owen.  One great-grandchild Hunter M. Mellick.

Frances Carlotta Jewell, 77

Mrs. Frances Carlotta Jewell age 77 passed away July 9, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, Ky.  Mrs. Jewell was born the daughter of the late Roy and Stattie Muriel Taylor in Spencer County, Kentucky.  Carlotta was a lifelong resident of Spencer County, former restaurant, florist, and retail clothing store owner.  She attended the New Hope Church of Taylorsville, was a homemaker, loving mother, and  enjoyed most of all the time

She spent with her grandchildren which included shopping trips, eating out,music, and most of all one of her greatest passions, dancing.  She was certainly a community person who also enjoyed stopping to talk and visit with people in  town.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Her many acts of kindness to the people in Taylorsville will forever be remembered. Carlotta was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 51 years Kenneth Jewell. 

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Marlene Jewell of Bloomfield, her sons Kenneth Dewayne Jewell of Taylorsville, Roy Dale Jewell(Celia) of Taylorsville, Hollie Daniel Jewell(Penny) of Mt. Eden, Paul Maurice “David”Jewell (Loretta) of Taylorsville and Clifford Baker of Taylorsville.  Two brothers Ivan Taylor of Taylorsville, and Doug Taylor (Jackie) of Bloomfield.  18 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren also survive.

Cecil Jefferson Ingram, 84

A Taylorsville resident, Mr. Cecil Jefferson Ingram, 84 years old, finished his trip to join his greatest love, Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Cecil left behind his second greatest love, his wife of sixty-six years, Helen Buttrey Ingram, his daughters, Sharon (Vincent) Hoover of Shepherdsville, and Marna (Darrell) Hornback of Taylorsville, and his son, Kem A. Ingram of Kentucky, his sister, Virginia Corrine Monroe of Taylorsville, 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other much loved relatives. 

Cecil was the son of the late Ed and Maggie Ingram and was a lifelong resident of Spencer County. Many knew him by his deep love for the Lord expressed through his music. He was a remarkable guitarist, and wrote songs that will continue to impact others as long as they are on the earth. Most importantly, he always found something beautiful in any day, was slow to take offense, and quick to forgive. He showered us with love, and was the living embodiment of Christ’s command to love one another. His legacy will be celebrated Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Taylorsville Community Church, Bro. Mike Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2:00-8:00 pm at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home. Norman Glenn Whitehouse, 70

Mr. Norman Glenn Whitehouse age 70 passed away June 10, 2015 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville,Ky.  He was born the son of the late Hubert Ernest and Daisey Allien Snider Whitehouse in Spencer County Kentucky.  He was a retired employee of the Taylorsville Lake State Park and a member of the Mt. Eden Masonic Lodge #263.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Linda Ruth Spears.

Mr. Whitehouse is survived by his wife Sue McAllister Whitehouse of Taylorsville,Ky, his two daughters Maria Annette Whitehouse and her companion Ray Raisor of Fisherville,Ky., Crystal Lynn Whitehouse of Taylorsville, Ky., two sons Norman Keith Whitehouse (Kathy) of Taylorsville, Ky., and Shannon Glenn Whitehouse (Laura) of Taylorsville, Ky.  One brother Ernest Allen Whitehouse (Jill) of Taylorsville,Ky.  Ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

Charlee Ann Wayne, 2 Months

Charlee Ann Wayne age 2 months passed away June 7, 2015 at Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  She was the infant daughter of Larry Wayne Jr . of Taylorsville, Ky  and Heather Moore of Cleburne, Tx.

She was born April 1, 2015 in Louisville, KY.  Charlee Ann is also survived by her grandparents Larry and Doris Wayne of Taylorsville, KY., and Michael and Lauri Moore of Louisville,Ky., Great grandparents Wayne and Ann Moore.

A visitation for Charlee Ann Wayne is planned for June 10, 2015 from 10:AM til 2 PM at the Wakefield Baptist Church in Spencer County. Interment will follow later in the week in Ft. Worth, TX. Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.



 
Earl Sowers, 84

A Taylorsville resident, Mr. Earl Sowers, age 84, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, KY. He was born September 5, 1930 in Woodford County, KY., to the late Jesse and Aurora Singleton Sowers. He was a former employee of Premier Thermal Plastics, and was a United States Navy Veteran. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Maxine Sowers.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon Todd of Willisburg and Cindy Grigsby of Mt. Washington, 1 son, Charles Sowers of Taylorsville, 2 sisters, Velda Foster and Donna Deckmann, both of Jeffersontown, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Cremation was chosen by the family. There will be no public services. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 



 
Marian Elaine Curtsinger, 68

A Fisherville resident, Mrs. Marian Elaine Curtsinger, age 68, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 in Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. She was born September 6, 1946 in Shelby County to the late Carl and Frances Williams Herndon.

She was a former office employee for Dr. Skaggs & Skaggs & Dr. Crain & Oder, and was a member of the Elk Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Herndon.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Curtsinger, her daughter, Rebecca Lynne (Tom) Patterson of Taylorsville, her son, Carl Vernon (Patti) Curtsinger of Shepherdsville, her sister, Phyllis (Larry) Ingram of Taylorsville, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marian Elaine Curtsinger will be Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Aretta Chesser, 82

A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Aretta Chesser, age 82, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 in Signature Health Care in Taylorsville. She was born February 6, 1933 in Spencer County to the late Benjamin Thomas and Ada Lee Holt Jewell. She was a former food service employee for Spencer County Schools, a housekeeping supervisor for Taylorsville Health Care, now known as Signature Health Care, and was a member of the Taylorsville Church of God of Prophecy. 

She is survived by her husband, Arvil Chesser, her son, Gary (Pam) Chesser of Taylorsville, her granddaughter, Angela (Todd) Nation, her grandson, David Thomas (Jessica) Chesser, and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Aretta Chesser will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Bro Vernon Jewell officiating. Clyeda Hardin, 93

Mrs. Clyeda Hardin, age 93, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 31, 2015. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sincere friend to all she met. Born in Washington County, Clyeda was the daughter of the late Lem and Julia Burns. The family eventually moved to Spencer County to the Little Union Community. At Little Union Baptist Church, Clyeda accepted Christ at an early age. After marriage and buying a farm in the Elk Creek community, she and her late husband moved their church memberships from Little Union Baptist Church to the Elk Creek Baptist Church where she served faithfully for over 65 years, having served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, and a nursery worker. Clyeda raised five children in the church. She was a music lover and encouraged her children to study piano which led her daughters to become pianist and organist at the church. Clyeda was a farmer, professional caregiver, talented homemaker, skillful gardener of flowers and vegetables, and custodian of Elk Creek Baptist Church for 40 years. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hardin, 11 month old daughter, Julia Ann Hardin,  son, Willis Ray Hardin, daughter, Nancy Hardin McCarty, grandson, Simeon Nicholas McCarty, son in law, Sim McCarty,  brothers, Curtis and James Burns, sisters, Martha Joyce Burns and Beulah Monroe.

Left behind to cherish her memory are 3 daughters and their husbands, Vickie and Larry Rogers, Patty and Randy McClain, Melissa and Arnold Brown and daughter in law, Carolyn Hardin, all of Spencer County, 7 grandchildren, James McCarty, Susan Hardin-Stevens (Scott), Clint Rogers (Kim), Weston McClain (Denise), Jennifer Brown, Whitney Boles (Hank), Scott Phillips, all of Spencer County, 7 great grandchildren, Zachary Hardin, Aaron Stevens, Baileigh Bogard, Charles Rogers, Emma Kate McClain, Anthony Albert, and Cooper Albert, sister, Mary Lois Jacobson and her husband Gayle of Los Angeles, California, sisters in law, Thelma Burns, Alberta Hedden, Evelyn Bowman, Yvonne Hardin, and brother in law, Donald R. Hardin, all of Nelson County, and several nieces and nephews, and a special long time friend to Clyeda and her family, Elmer "Bud" Smith and his wife Doris Smith of Montgomery, Alabama.

Johnnie Snider Shelburne, 71

Mr. Johnnie Snider Shelburne age 71 passed away May 23, 2015 at Norton Hosparus  in Louisville, Ky.  He was born in Spencer County Ky. son of the late Artis and Ruby Nation Shelburne.  He retired as a maintenance technician for Industrial Powder Coating in Shelbyville, Ky after 16 years of service and was of the Catholic Faith.

Mr. Shelburne was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth Shelburne, his brother Garnett and sister-in-law Rosetta Shelburne, his grandparents Odis and Sallie Jane Shelburne Nation, and Oscar and Bessie Nation.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa Neal(Abe) of Lawrenceburg, Ky., his son Jonathan Shelburne (Bobbie Jo) of Chaplin, KY. four grandchildren

Justin Keith Hilbert, 35

Mr. Justin Keith Hilbert age 35 passed away at U.K. Medical Center Lexington ,Kentucky  on May 21, 2015.  Justin was a graduate of Butler High School in Louisville, Ky. and worked as a self employed general contractor. 

He is survived by his daughter Jaylynn Hilbert, his mother Levina Barrick Walker (Darrell) of Bagdad, Ky .  his father Larry Hilbert (Monica) of Louisville, Ky., two sisters Krista Johnson(Steve) of Louisville, Ky. and Jamie Wright of Jeffersonville, In. his three brothers, Brandon Hilbert(Gretchen) of Louisville, Ky., Darrell Walker Jr.(Sarah) of Prospect, Ky., and Michael Gibson(April)  of Jeffersonville, In. His grandmothers Effie Cox McCauley(Joe) of Shepherdsville, Ky., and Pauline Hilbert of Louisville, Ky.

Mr. Hilbert was preceded in death by his grandfathers Stanley Barrick and Lester Hilbert.

Arnold William Ealey, Jr. 70

Mr. Arnold William Ealey Jr. age 70 passed away at his residence on April 29, 2015 surrounded by his family.  He was born the son of the late Arnold William and Beulah Conley Ealey Sr. in Paintsville,Ky.  He was a plaster engineer in the construction industry and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. 

Mr. Ealey is survived by his companion of 27 years Janice Parrish of Taylorsville, Ky. His two sons William Thomas Ealey of Taylorsville, Ky and John and his wife Mary Ealey of Mechanicsburg,PA.  One grandson Nicholas Ealey of Mechanicsburg, PA.  Three sisters, Lena Gibbins of Paintsville,Ky, Lois Ann Johnson of Catlettsburg, Ky, and Phyllis Kay Griffith of Ashland, Ky. 

Mr. Ealey was preceded in death by his parents.

He chose to be cremated and a memorial service will take place at the Ealey Family Cemetery in Paintsville, Ky at a later date.

Mildred Imogene Hayden, 80

Mrs. Mildred Imogene Hayden age 80  passed away April 24, 2015 at The Louisville Protestant Altenheim where she was a previous employee having served the establishment for over 25 years.  She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends of the Altenheim at the time of her passing.  Mrs. Hayden was born in Nelson County , Ky to the late Earl Cleveland Whitaker  and Marguerite Louise Hopewell Whitaker Embry.

Mrs. Hayden was a member of the Open Door Christian Center and served the Altenheim as a LPN. She is Survived by her daughter Lea Dawn Thompson of Taylorsville, Ky, One son Kerry Dean Hall of Louisville, Ky. , a brother Earl (Buddy) Whitaker and his wife Kathy of Taylorsville, and her sister in  law Carolyn Whitaker of Taylorsville,Ky, 4 grandchildren, and 3 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one sister Gloria Sue Broughton and one brother Gerald Edward Whitaker.

Mrs. Hayden chose to be cremated and a memorial service was held at Valley Cemetery on Saturday  May 2, 2015 with Sister Mavis Bennett officiating. Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



 
James Rudolph Milam Sr., 87

A Bedford resident, Mr. James Rudolph Milam Sr., age 87, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was born July 30, 1927 in Rhodelia, KY to the late William Dennis and Lucy Celestine Hardesty Milam. He was a former employee of General Electric and an Army Veteran of World War II.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche L. Hatfield Milam, and his second wife, Mazie Tellewanda Milam, and his sons, Robert Douglas Milam and Dennis Keith Milam.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Garr (Ed) of Bedford, 2 sons, James Milam (Ronnie) of Columbus, OH., and Thomas Milam (Karen) of Louisville, a step daughter, Toni Alexander of Louisville, and a sister, Emma Jean Meyers (Richard) of Missouri. 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild also survive.

A Taylorsville resident, Mr. Nicholas Robert Burns, age 31, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 19, 1984 in Louisville. He was an employee of Ford Motors Kentucky Truck Plant.

He is survived by his wife, Lyndsay Burns of Taylorsville, his daughter, Lilly Brown of Taylorsville, his father, Robert Burns (Mary Anne) of Louisville, his mother, Cynthia Salyer (Kris) of Mt. Washington, his sister, Jessica Haberle (Michael) of Louisville, his step sister, Valerie Richards-Adams (Jason) of Melvindale, MI., and his brother, Barrett White (Sonya) of Louisville.

Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00noon until 8:00 pm at the funeral home, and Sunday after 8:00 am until time of services.  The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 


 

Nettie Hester Nethery, 87

Mrs. Nettie Hester Nethery age 87 of Mt. Eden  passed away at her residence on March 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.   She was born the daughter of the late Lester and Sarah Goodlett in Spencer County, Ky.  She was a homemaker, wonderful mother and grandmother and spent much of her time gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.  Mrs. Nethery was a  member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters Patsy Moreland of Shelbyville,Ky., Sharon Daily(Earl) of Shelbyville, Ky., June Hartman of Mt. Eden,Ky., and Sarah Grace(Mike) of Lawrenceburg,Ky.  Her sons Scottie Nethery of Clayton, Washington, Gene Nethery of Mt. Eden,Ky., and Ronnie Nethery of Mt. Eden, Ky.  One sister Lillie Anzalone of Taylorsville, Ky.  14 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edwin A. Nethery.

Visitation for Mrs. Nettie Nethery March 17, 2015 from 3-8 P.M. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Ky and March 18, 2015 9A.M. til funeral time at 11:A.M at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Brother Greg Taylor and Brother Greg Knapper officiating.  Interment in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. Shirley T. Dillander, 70

A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Shirley T. Dillander, age 70, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Hospice Palliative Care in Louisville. She was the former Shirley Hardin, born February 27, 1945 in Spencer County to the late William Oscar and Haggie Mae Holt Hardin.

She was a former employee of General Electric, and was of the Christian faith.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Russell Dillander, her brother, Bobby and her sister, Tennie.

She is survived by her companion of 13 years, David Grider Sr., of Taylorsville, and her brother, Jay Byrd of Taylorsville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley T. Dillander will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Joe Vires officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Eden Cemetery in Bullitt County. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. 
 


 

Mary Elizabeth Hilbert, 92

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hilbert age 92 passed away March 1, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville,Ky.  Mrs. Hilbert was born the daughter of the late Sidney and Lula Jewell Maddox in Anderson County, Ky.  She worked in the healthcare industry as a private duty nurse.  In addition to Signature Healthcare she was a former resident of Christian Care Community in Taylorsville.  Mrs. Hilbert was a member of the Open Door Christian Center in Bloomfield, Ky. 

Besides her parents Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hilbert was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Thomas Jefferson Hilbert, her daughter Anna Joyce Branham, and her son Sidney (Donnie) Hilbert. She is survived by her loving grandchildren Tony Hilbert(Jenny) of Mt. Washington,Ky. , Timmy Hilbert of Louisville,Ky., Scott Branham(Angela) of Loretta, Ky., and Troy Branham (Lynne) of Mt. Washington, Ky.

Visitation for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hilbert March 3, 2015 from 3-8 P.M. and March 4, 2015 from 9 A.M. til funeral time at 1 P.M. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home.  Interment in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, Ky.
